Billy Corgan’s Cat Sparks Bizarre Feud with Anderson Cooper

Have you seen Anderson Cooper’s CNN segment “The Ridiculist?” In it, he pokes fun at politicians and pop culture. In 2014, Smashing Pumpkins lead singer Billy Corgan was on the unfortunate butt-end of one of Anderson’s jokes.

Being from Chicago, and an animal lover (cats, specifically), Corgan lent his time to pose on the front cover of a hometown magazine called “Paws Chicago” for their Summer issue. Anderson took the cover shoot as a joke, and implied that Corgan had fallen a long way from the peak of the Smashing Pumkins’ success and selling 6 million copies of 1993’s “Siamese Dream.”

The name of the album was used on the cover of Paws for Corgan’s front page feature. Cooper may not have been completely off in pointing out Corgan’s awkward press attempts. Lending your time for an animal rescue group is admirable, but Cooper also pointed out a cringe-worthy furniture ad that Corgan did for furniture store Walter E. Smithe, where he takes on a group of professional wrestlers.
